When I started bike commuting, on a bike I found in a skip, that was the mileage enough for the day (~8 miles total).

These days with a much better bike, all my gear with me and an hour to kill at lunchtime I can't wait to get kitted up and zoom around. First of all I just explored the Bristol suburbs near where I work - now I know my way around as well as the locals I work with. Better than that there's some proper hills & countryside nearby so I've done 15 mile rides in a legitimate lunchtime, up & down Dundry beacon, Chew Lake and back, even some off roading on bridleways. Great fun. Beats network shoot'em'ups with the lads.

ive done it once, but that was cos it was the first day id ever ridden my planet x. wanted to get some extra mileage in before it got dark so went and did 15miles round the lovely areas of enfield, edmonton and tottenham. Had to keep moving as i was worried my bike was going to get nicked whilst i was on it... came back to the office where my colleague had bought me 2 baguettes back from greggs :D

twice a week, 20 miles with between 2 and 8 other guys from work.
    Keeps us fit anyway.
  • Tried it today, I had to visit the college shop afterwards to buy another T-shirt... Good job it's winter, I've only just thought that taking water would have been a good idea!
