The tyax is a superb bit of kit, possibly the best bike for the money. You won't go wrong with it, many owners will vouch for this.

Here's a link to the C2C I took part in a few summers ago

    http://www.gravityengine.co.uk/coast2coast/

As you can see all of the bikes cost no more than £500, some were only £300 bikes, all did the job very well, as the Tyax will.

    Thanks!, the bikes were:

1 Claude Butler Cape Wrath D27
    1 Giant XTC 3
    1 Orange Gringo (mine!)
    1 Merlin Malt 1
1 Claude Butler Cape Wrath 'V' brake version.

Good thinking on the source for your bike, it's much better to get a bike from the LBS (Local Bike Shop) because you can build up a face to face rapport with the staff, you don't have the hassle of sending stuff back to the online retailer & most of all you can try the bikes out for size!

A good rule of thumb for sizing is to be able to fit 4 fingers between the top tube of the bike & your undercarriage whilst standing over the bike ;) .

  • unfortunately my LBS does not do mongoose but when i approched them they said seeing as we cant supply the bike you want...buy it from wiggle and we will service and take care of it for you with low cost servicing and repairs as we could not supply the bike you wanted..my lbs supply the british triathlon team and only deal in top range bikes did'nt seem that interested in supplying me with a mongoose.....but the good thing was they did not try to sell me something i did want either.........it makes me laugh when u go into a store who do not deal i what you want...they always try to persuade you that theres are better and why not buy one of these bikes that we stock.
