I have a good frame that takes a 27.0mm seatpost. I would like one in carbon (yeah I know, male jewellery and all that!) and the only one I can find is a Race Face MB one which would need cut down. Does anyone have any better ideas??

I had the same problem after I discovered that the nice Raleigh Special Products titanium frame I bought on ebay was 27.0 - a point the seller "forgot" to mention!

I ended up with an Easton EA50 alloy job just to get something to fit. It does the job fine and has a nice visible logo. Cycle Surgery's web site has it listed.

You could use a USE 25.0mm post and a shim. If it's an aluminium frame - you could easily get is reamed out to 27.2mm by a framebuilder / decent shop with the right tools.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • I use a USE with a 27mm shim on my steel road bike. A great solution, and also means that the seatpost could be (possibiliy) used in another bike too with another shim.

I have a lovely USE alloy 27 dead seatpost. So they did make them. Maybe they have stopped. Seams a bit bonkers that there are so few options around. I have 4 bikes that have a 27.0mm seat tube.
