At about 9.20am this morning a cyclist was hit on a roundabout on the A57 Irlam
bypass.
Not sure how badly injured he was but was taken by to hospital in an Amubulance.

Can't find any local news stories on this yet but will keep you posted.

The reason i know this is beacuse our office looks out onto this roundabout.
I also cycle to work & was on this same roundabout an hour earlier.

The guy looked to be talking but not moving so may have broken limbs.

He was lifted into the ambulance but it did not move off for about another 20 mins
& eventually headed off in the Warrington direction.

He got plenty of help from nearby staff coming out from various companies
& some appeared to be first aiders.

Two Police vans arrived on scene but the ambulance took a good half hour to arrive.

Will keep you updated when i know more.

cheers

  • Some witnesses reported a HGV may have clipped him
but simply carried on it's journey without stopping but maybe he didn't
know the cyclist had been hit.

  • Which roundabout? The one as you come out of Eccles under the motorway?
  • No, not Eccles under Barton Bridge (M60) but about 3 miles further west towards
Warrington at the point where the road has been extended to run alongside the canal
    at Irlam / Cadishead.

Still not seen any news on this yet.
