Seatpost Length, Measured From ?

How are seatpost measured? from the bottom of the post to where the seat rails clamp in or from the bottom of the post to the top of the post just under where the clamp is.

    why? not all makers use the same method.

    just get longer and cut too length.

    A quick google search revealed this..

    "This is measured from the bottom of the post to the middle of the saddle rail.
