Rear clip on guard on the front?

I posted previously about being unable to get a full length guard on the front of my trek 1200 so I have purchased a set of TorTec clip ons, which are SKS Raceblades copies.
Is there any thing to stop me mounting the rear clip on to the front to increase the coverage? The end of it is about 2 inches lower round the tire than the axle, is it just a daft idea with no additional benefit?
Possibly an accident waiting to happen with debris throwing up into the lowered guard?
