Help with retro lo-pro build
I have put together an 80s retro lo-pro. I want to run it with front and rear disc wheels (a revisitation of a teenage TDF/Channel4/1980s fantasy - and don't worry, it only goes out in good weather and when the mood takes me), but the problem is it has a 24" front wheel, and a 24" front disc is proving very hard to get hold of.
So why don't I go out and get a frame with a 650c front? Well, I can't justify ANOTHER bike to my wife and am loathe to let this one go. The frame is a Harry Hall 531pro and it is 1. a beautiful frame and 2. it is built by a legend. SO as a compromise, I have been considering putting 650c forks on it.
I know this will affect the geometry and handling, but will it affect it enough that I really shouldn't do it? Are there any other reasons I really shouldn't do it?

Can you not moderate you're expectations a bit and run with a 24" spoked front wheel?0

Well, that of course would be the sensible thing to do... but when do we settle for the sensible option?! I've had this on-and-off obsession with running a bike with front-and-rear discs since the late 80s, and only now have I got (limited) disposable income to make it happen. I'm afraid I've got to do it!I was only joking when I said

I have also just bought a Lo pro frame.
Further to you're question, please see atached; http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2006/apr/KenS.Kotch.htm
Have you a picture of yours? Is it on the road?0 -
I have a circa 1996 Concorde steel low pro in white with Campagnolo Shamal wheels.
It was used for a handful of open TT events and has been hung in the rafters for ten years.
It has 26" front wheel and I even have an unused/unglued 26" tub to go with it.
Choice of saddle will be possible, and the front cow-horns need new elbow rests.
For sale if anyone want to make me an offer :roll:0 -
Hmmm. Do you have a piccie??????
What size is the frame?0 -
