What travel is your current fork.
The Fox 36 will almost certainly be too long and not suit your bike, its likely to be heavier than your current fork as well.
If you're looking to save weight your best bet is the Rock Shox Reba, the Marzocchi is a nice fork as well very plush and pretty much bullet proof in terms of reliability.0 -
100....manitou splice super. The marzocchi will fit my bike??
evans have got this fork on offer http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=13997
but i can save up alittle more.
thanks0 -
Almost anything will be better than a Manitou Splice.
There are three things to look for when you are buying -
1. Steerer size
2. Travel
3. Axle-to-crown length
Your bike will have a 1,125" headset - so ANY fork which has a 1.125" steerer tube will fit.
Your current forks have a claimed 100mm of travel. You should aim for something similar, say up to about 120mm maximum.
But the real deciding factor is the axle-to-crown length of the forks when fully extended. This is the distance in mm from the centre of the front wheel axle to the underside of the headset crown race (i.e. where it contact the fork crown).
For every 20mm of difference in length between your forks and whatever you replace them with you change the head angle of your bike by 1 degree. Might not sound a lot but it can make the difference between having a sweet handling bike and a having a shopping trolley...
Example - your exisiting forks may be 500mm axle to crown. If you fit a 120mm travel fork which is 10mm longer at 510mm, you should be OK as you can set the sag of your new forks to compensate. Much over this and you would be in trouble.
Unfortunately, many manufacturers are pretty reticent about giving this information out - Manitou and RockShox being the exceptions.
Personally, I'd rule the Fox option out completely and go for the RockShox every time. They're good value for money and the build quality is every bit as good as the Fox. That said the Marzocchis have an excellent reputation for bomb-proof reliability.0 -
Ooh, have a look at Magura Laurins, too!0

Had the Mx Pro Etas on my bike for a year, bomb proof, but you have to fork out extra
for the shock pump0 -
Check the bike is warrantied for a longer fork if you do decide to fit a longer one.0

The MPH is an IS brake isnt it? And the Fork a post mount (that you have). What size rotors and adaptors are you using?0
