Out last night and got very cold feet, was wearing "Smurf" boots over my cycling shoes but it seemed to make little difference to me getting cold feet. So I guess I need better socks, anyone got any recomendations for a thin warm sock, I was thinking about something with a wool mix?

Assos early winters are good. Wool mix, but not too thick.0

I'd recommend a blazing fire, thick wooly socks, slippers and a glass of port 8)0

For warm feet I'd recommend wool socks like the Assos or DeFeet ones.0 -
Really? you do surprise me. I have washed and tumble dried mine many times and they are great!0

Another vote for the Assos winter socks or if you want something a bit 'lighter' the 'Early Winter socks. A bit cheaper. the deFeet 'Woolie Boolie' or their lighter version, the wool Air-e-AtorM.Rushton0

Now, now, there's no need to argue, there is room for both options.
DeFeet Woolly-Boollies are brill when it's dry. I use mine for walking as well as cycling, inside the wellies for gardening and even round the house instead of slippers. I expect the best option is to wear them with overshoes when it's wet so your shoes stay dry too, but I haven't got any, so then I wear... Sealskinz, which are also brill - wool lined, warm enough for most days but stay warm because your feet stay dry inside even if your shoes are soaked.
If you go mountain biking the Sealskinz are better than wooly socks and overshoes combination because they are inside the shoe, protected from sharp things and don't interfere with clipping in and out and footing when things get hairy. Don't expect miracles if you want to go paddling though - they are only neoprene socks, not waders.0 -
How about the Sidi electric feet warmers that were reviewed in Cycling Weekly last week?
A snip at about £150!
Can we fix it?
Yes we can!0 -
Guys/Gals,
Can I point you in the direction of LewisKIT Merino Wool OX Socks - they won Best in Test in Cycling Plus last year. 3pack for £24.
