new tyres
Because i'm shallow  and have a red bike, i quite fancy some red tyres. Anybody any experience of any of these - Bontrager race lite, Bontrager race X lite and Schwalbe stelvio. From what i've read on one retailer's web page the race lite and race X lite are the same weight, the X lites just have better puncture protection :?

How about this? Since you have a red bike don't get red tires, try another
color that will be complimentary to the red.

All I know is that blue and yellow go very well together. You're on your own with
anything else. Check with your wife / girlfriend if you dare.

I have red tyres on my red and white bike - an' I don't care who knows it.
Michelin PR2s and Krylion CarbonsI have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0 -

Get black. There's always a kink in the central colour band on coloured tyres and it can drive you to distraction.0

I'm with the OP on this one.
Also have a red (summer) bike... have been using Vittoria Diamante Pros this year and very happy with them.0 -
I recently bought some Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps in red. Stuck them on my black bike with white wheels and I think they look okay.
I'm looking at a Specialized Tarmac or Roubaix either in black/red/white or Quickstep, plus my white 1850s and with the red tyres. I think they look pretty cool. I've been mightll impressed with the Tricomps.
Even if I don't end up with a bike with some red on (looking ant some Liquigas Cannondales) I think I'll look to see if there are Tricomps in colourways to match the frame.0 -
How about, as suggested, the Michelin Krylions - good for winter, judging by the posts (no personal experience).
Vittorias come in varied colours.
GP4000 tyres do too - I love them, but they do get some bad posts with regard to winter grip0 -
I'd certainly second the Krylions for winter (I find myself in denial ordering nice pretty summer tyres) The coloured stripes on them are subtle (nothing as severe as the Tricomps). While I haven't done many miles on them (maybe 200-300) they have been in pretty poor conditions but I don't have any markings let alone a full blow cut in the tread.
I've had two brown trouser moments on them but with hindsight I think that was really due to me being a little enthusiatic and having a little too much faith in a narrow slick, particular on a forsty Sunday morning.
At this point last year I was using 23mm Specialized Mondo Pro with their Armadillo protection. Ok, nothing made it though the protection belt but the tread itself was cut to shreds on both front and rear tyres.
Until I decided to buy a Conti Hometrainer tyre I'd relegated my three Mondo Pros for use on the turbo.
Depending on the bike I buy in the spring/summer, I can see my current Allez Sport shod with Krylion Carbons on Aksiums being my winter bike for sometime to come.0 -
