Hi, anyone know if the Giant TCR advanced has the same geomtery as the normal TCR composite please?
If so, know hwere i can see the full geometry - the Giant website only seemed to have the effective top-tube and seat-tube sizes on or am i looking in the wrong place?
I want to know things such as headtube length, seat angles etc.
cheers.

    Hi Richard

If you go to Giant's US site (specify USA as region on home page), they have a full geometry diagram available when you click onto the bike/frame of your choice

Shortcut link: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-US/bik ... 319/29442/ - just click on the Geometry tab to access the picture

Spent many an hour comparing various measurements against other manufacturers' options and I'm either buying another Giant, a Ridley Helium or Dedacciai Rebel SL (if I can get one in nude carbon) as the latter two options are the only ones that come closest to the size and geometry that I'm used to on my older TCR, without buying yet another Giant (this would be my fifth !)

Cheers Andy - very helpful. Do you ride a medium Giant? I reckon Giants general chart that says a medium is for 5 ft 7in - 5ft 10 in is a bit out for what I ride. I'm 6ft or just a tad over and reckon the 55.5cm top tube of a medium would be fine. I've ridden a 57 top tube bike (which I think is the same as Giant ML) and felt it a bit big. What do you reckon?

PS I'm loving the Scuro so far.

Relieved to hear you're still enjoying the Scuro Richard - thought you weren't getting on with it when you were asking about Giant's !

I'm 5 9 and ride the Medium Giant - what I'm strugging with is finding other options that have the same 55 - 55.5 cm top tube whilst still having a 50'ish centre to top seat tube and 14-15cm head tube.

The medium Giant is actually slightly longer in the top tube than the Large Scuro and bear in mind that just about any seat post, with the exception of a direct inline option or a Use Alien, will offer more layback than the Scuro's dedicated unit so you would have a bit more room to adjust for fore and aft position.

I'm sorely tempted by JE James' sale price of £1299 for a 2007 TCR Advanced ISP, even though I'm not fussed on the colour, but I may hold fire until later next year in the hope that I can get a 2008 colour scheme frame (as in the link I edited into the post above) for a reduced price.

I would be-grudge paying £2k for one in March when knowing I could potentially get exactly the same frame for £700 less a few months later !

    Hope this helps a bit

I'm not that keen on an ISP although they do look great. I think an ISP lets too much buzz through when I've ridden them.
I'd suggest an Addict in medium for the top tube and headtube lengths you want, but not the seat-tube. What about a 54cm Tarmac SL or SL2?
I'm going to be interested to see what C+ have to say about the Scuro when they review it fully (hopefully soon since they did a first impressions in the last mag).

    Hi Richard

I've looked at the Addict as well - if I could get a 54 for decent money, I would probably try one but getting one in the more subdued colour combination that I prefer has been unsuccessful so far.

Love the look of the new Tarmac SL2 but only in the raw carbon/white finish - unfortunately it is only going to be available in the States as Specialized UK have confirmed that they will only supply the Quickstep colour scheme here and as I'm not a fan of red bikes, or bikes with red on them (which seems to be common on a lot of Scotts as well), I won't be exploring that one.

Just such a shame that less than 10mm of extra layback was all that prevented me from getting the right fit on the medium Scuro. I still keep hankering after one, especially now that I have seen the Terry Dolan version in white - gorgeous !

I'll have to keep an eye out for a test, see if they rate it as much as I did.

An excellent LBS for Giants is Evernden Cycles (www.everndencycles.co.uk) in Kent for those living in the South. Great service too! which is nice. Look out for sale prices there too.

I'd say the medium is too small for you. What length stem was on the 57 you tried.

It had a 10cm stem on it.

The top tube on the medium may be ok for you - I ride a 12 cm stem with an Arione saddle pretty much clamped in the middle of the rails - but the head tube, and seat tube especially might be on the low side for you.

My seatpost has 190mm showing from top of seat clamp to saddle rail clamps and I have 50mm of spacers above the headset - much more and I think you're at the very extremes of what is both achieveable and safe.
