Hi all,

I'm looking for a light carbon seatpost with a bit of layback which can handle a moderate vibration damping. Main use will be on a hardtail for marathons if that helps.

I know the Thompson posts are very highly thought of but they seem to be alloy only.

What do people think of the Easton carbon posts? I'm thinking of the EC70 but if anyone has any other suggestiosn I'd love to hear them.

Cheers,

Ed

This is the one I am about to purchase: would like a little more feedback though.
  • I have an EC70 on my full suss bike - I originally bought it for a hardtail, but changed frames, and by luck the seat post fitted the new frame. I guess it does absorb some trail buzz, but I really have never noticed. I think the post is about 3-4 years old now so does look a little bit tatty .

Personally I am not that keen on the single bolt clamp, I much prefer the double bolt clamps like Thomson.

My other bike is fully rigid, (with a Thomson post) with 2.3 tubeless tyres, and the softer tyres really do help with trail vibration.

Also if you regularly drop your saddle, best not to get a carbon post.

    Thanks for the info.

I don't drop my post so that shouldn't be a problem but I hadn't thought of the single/double bolt issue before. I ride fully rigid at the moment so I imagine the need for a secure attachment is even more important.

Can anyone recommend a double bolted carbon post?

    Cheers :)
