Rubbing Front Disc

I've recently bought a new front wheel for my rockhopper. It's a Hope hub and DT Swiss 4.2 rim. I'm using my stock skewer and have to pull the fork legs apart only a millimetre or so for the hub to dop into place. I'm told this is usual!
However, when I spin the wheel it will make one rotation and then stop. There is quite an interference between the disc and the pads. Will this even out over a few rides and go back to spinning freely as it did when the brake disc was on the original wheel? And therefore is it just because the Hope hub is marginally different to the Specialized Stout hub that was on the front?
Or is there a deeper underlying issue?

what brake. year model and fitting.
ie. you will have to re align it."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

The bike is a 2007 Rockhopper Disc with Avid Juicy 3 brakes and Avid discs. The rear hub has been changed from a Shimano hub to a DT Swiss hub but seems to be a pretty close match.
As for the fitting, the caliper mounts from a bracket on the back of the Rock Shox Tora 302 fork.Specialized Rockhopper '07

Have a look here for how to realign the caliper. It's pretty straightforward in principle but can be a little fiddly if you've not done it before. You should get the hang of it pretty quickly
