Wheel size

I have a question about wheel size. My Rivendell Atlantis came with 26" wheels. I always tried to figure out why the bike overall had a squat look. This morning I put on 700's, and as a result it looks much better proportionally.

Can anyone comment on the merits of either size wheel?

The type of riding I do is a mix of hilly paved roads, and dirt fire trails.

Thank you for your input.
Chris

How do your brakes work with the different wheel size?

Hypocrisy is only a bad thing in other people.
  • Ah, very good point.

Thank you so much. I guess this is not a quick fix!

depends on his brakes really, they may well cope with 700c's

  • You may need to check you have sufficient clearance with a larger wheel in the frame. 'Toe-overlap' can be either a nuisance or just dangerous.
