Bike shop business

Hi

Is there anyone here that owns a cycle shop that sells bikes and does repairs? I'm wondering how the market is for this type of service and whether or not you can actually stay afloat? Can anyone with more experience of the industry give me an insight?

I used to do the accounts for a "successful" bicycle co-op in Brixton and I can tell you they didn't do it for the money - but they stayed afloat. I would say that if you want to run a bicycle shop first of all you have to love bicycles.
