I would really like to know the weight of the enduro, be great if anyone can tell me that. The riding I do fits either of these two hence the reason I cant decide

I would choose the enduro but thats just a personal choice really i don't know much about the two.
  • You are going through exactly the same problem I am having at the moment.

I really love the look of the Enduro - but am put off by the reported problems with the fork & rear shock, which I am assured have been sorted on all '08 models.

Many people have recommended the Stumpy - but the travel has been reduced this yera from 140 to 120 (i think) - so they are'nt neccessarily taking about the same bike

Stumpy seems practical but it just doesn't get me as excited as the Enduro !

I too have heard things about the rear shock locking solid. Nice bike when its working properly but it will limit you to buying a specific type of fork and shock. no problem for a while but if, like me, you run things on a shoestring and hang on to your bike for a long time. things may get more difficult to source. :x
I never touched it! It was broke when I got here.

Out of those two i'd go for the stumpy, on two points. Fox forks :) (yep, completely biased) and the stumpy looks better imo too.

    Stumpy,

same reasons as above - more generic parts.

See if you can test ride both.

I'd personally go with the stumjumper, just because of the issues with the specialized forks and shocks.

Other options are the Commencal Meta, Giant Trance and Reign.

The stumpy is the safe bet but there is something about the enduro, I would still love to know how much it weighs.A test ride would be great but you cant learn much in the carpark.would love either for the weekend!
  • I've got my eye on the Enduro too, it looks awesome. Surely they have sorted out their shocks this year! I think I've made up my mind, I saw a Pitch Pro yesterday and it felt a little heavy and I really wasn't convinced with the colour too. It's the Enduro for me
  • stumpy all the way unless you only ride the trail centres and the alps...... its still a much more versatile bike, and if most people are honest with themselves they dont need an enduro, we've had many customers buy one and then realise its not practical on a daily basis for the riding they do. dont get caught up in the hype ride one even better ride both any decent spesh dealer will have both on as demo come see me if your based in the south west

good comments. Although I do love the idea of the enduro I almost certainly dont need it.I reckon the stumpy will take shit loads of hammer. Also I know what I would prefer to be riding in technical sections.Rather have the agility of the stumpy over the big, perhaps heavy forks on the enduro. That said fcuk me the enduro looks fun!

FCUK me! Why does everyone go on looks and not go out and test ride a bike before they buy one. It's not looks that matter it's how they ride on your favourite trails.

  • depnds which one, the basic comp modle (£1699) comes in at a smidgen over 30lbs and all the ones up from that are sub 30 so pretty good actually. its more the geometry that makes the big diffenrence, stumpy more agile and responsive in the tight stuff......

    what size you after ?
  • I'm looking for a size small !!
  • i still have one of those in the shop on sale (07) and all our remaining 07 stock has had the updated shock and fork catrridges fitted off the 08 models.....

give me a call if you're interested 01752847002 and ask for tom.

£1699---- reduced to £1350 one small left.
