Just trying to get the bike together for the week ahead...2 big problems I would like advice on.

ummm, no pressure in the blackburn track pump so how can I fix it, especially as I've already lost the rubber bung down the body.

I was concerned that the pedals might fuse on to the whatsitsname so trying to take them off do I use alan key or the huge spanner? So far managed to cover myself in grease - but that's another story.

Any help would be gratefully received before I make a prat of myself in Smegma sports tomorrow morning.

Apart from taking your pump apart and see if there's anything wrong, hard to say whats wrong. As far as removing pedals - a long-handled spanner is best because you don't have the faff of fitting an allen key between the crank and the frame. Facing the crank side of the bike, the pedal unscrews anti-clockwise. Facing the non-drive side, the pedal unscrews clockwise - think about pulling up and unscrewing towards the back wheel.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Thanks Dog

Spanner in the goolies it is. R u really supposed to do this every 6 months or so? As for the pump just such a waste to go and blow another 40 quid...

The other thing is leg rotation - just determined by saddle height? I was wondering if the saddle slowly slips back down over time, what with the weight, bent legs and all. .

Blackburn pumps come with a lifetime warranty - not sure how good it is, but may be worth checking out.

I paid out nearly £30 for a track pump at my LBS, then 2 weeks later they had track pumps for £2.99 at lidls...

Believe it or not the £2.99 lidl item pumps the tyres everybit as well as the LBS supplied one :(. I now have a pump at work and at home, plus a mini pump and a co2 inflator in the panniers...

    Thanks for the advice

I'll check out the lidl site from the office. Pick up (another!) trackpump, get my head round the CO2 cannisters and probably a chain cleaner, reflective jacket and there's another £150. All necessary stuff!
The helmets looking ropey but the wife says she won't feed me in the wheelchair without one...if you catch my drift.
It used to be boards, wetsuits and wax. Give it another ten years and it'll be little white balls and checkered trousers.
