Does it matter where you buy your laptop

I am going to buy a new laptop and have a chance to get one from America for a LOT cheaper, will the laptop still function fully in the UK and will i be able to get updates, ect really why should i not get one from America :?: Thanks

    support issues, import tax could be a lot, might need a new transformer block. Other than that no issue.

    It will have american's keyboard layout.

    ye i think the person has to put on the package that it is a gift though and they may not want to do that
