Chaps / ladies,
Newbie here.
Looking for advice. I have up to £700 to spend on a new hardtail. I'm thinking:
Orange G3
Trek 6000 / 6500
Marin ????
Cannondale F5 Disc
Specialised Rockhopper ?
Really need some advice on which of the above to go for or avoid.

WHat riding will you be doing? Any features that you want? All are good machines: be worth checking them out in the flesh.0

I'd take a look at a Merlin Malt.Incredible value for money.2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
2017 Canondale Supersix Evo0 -
I've recently bought a Cannondale F4 Z (with Rockshox rather than the Headshok) - £640 from Evans. Also tried the Trek 6500. I preferred the longer top tube of the Cannondale, and it felt lighter. No regrets so far!
The Cannondale uses SRAM x7 gears while the Trek uses Shimano.0 -
try Merlin ccles they've got the 07 malt 4 for £699 !! check the review out on Bike radar0

I'm also planning speding up to £700 on my first new bike ever. I was looking at the GT Avalanche Expert 2008, is it a piece of crap?? Better suggestions?
I need a bike I can fix a rear rack to, so has the have the little bosses on the stays.

Is it a bike for XC and trails? Or for commuting? Its a good bike, but as always, test it out first.0
