Hey guys

Been ummin and awing about two bikes now the new 2008 gt xcr 5 from halfords the new specs are as follows:

Juicy 3 brakes, XT shadow rear mech, Recon 351 85-130mm, Rock Shox ario 2.1 rear, and the rest i think is made up of WTB rims i think and maxxis tyres. . This bike is due out first week in December.

And on the other hand a Focus Super bud:

Fox F100RL forks, Fox RP2 rear, Xt rear and Magura Louise Brakes and lx stuff again.
But this bike is not due out until middle/end of january

Now dont know if the fox shock is more or any better than the recon, both bikes look the biz.

Should I wait Bearing in mind I have no bike at the Moment and wanting to ride.

If you say the Focus is far far more superior in frame, parts ext, I will wait, but just not really sure

P.s was looking at the Cube AMS Comp 2008 but that rear shock as bad reviews, so might be out.

Please help.

They are very different bikes: the XCR is a heavier All Mountain affair, the Focus a lighter more XC oriented ride.
  • like sonic says they are both different bikes
the focus will be a lot lighter that the xcr and more for xc type riding

but if it was me and i have said before id wait for the super bud mate

All i am going to be using bike for is back and forth to work, going up and down taff trail and doing a few small jumps and maybe hitting the trails at cwm carn and the wall round that area .

Wont be doing any downhill what so ever as am just a beginner to trails,

Maybe should wait for super bud as better fork on that and its 28 lbs. the gt is almost 8 lbs heavyer
  • sounds like u have a similar dillema to me, cant make my bloody mind up!

That super bud does look great spec, especially for the money! I also like the look of the Mongoose Teocali Super. Dont know if I can wait for the Super Bud!

Money is burning a hole in my pocket!

The thing is i am going to be off work for 3 weeks due to paternity leave in a couple days , and then x-mas so wont be using bike too much, so really jan is not too far away.

And i know if i bought another bike rode it for a couple weeks and then the superbud was released i would say to myself, i wish i would have waited.

This is a delema, as the GT gots wicked reviews, but the spec and weight of that super bud is amazing for 1000.00
  • wow you are allowed a new bike with a little en on the way any minute. You lucky lucky man! lol

Been doing a bit of research and the new Fox 32 F100rl's are almost 500.00

and the rear RP2 is 150.00, god know how they can sell this bike for 999.99

The magura brakes are over 100.00 lx crank about 80.00

so really they are making the frames for free?

Got to say this bike has got to be the deal of the century.
