hello
me and a friend went riding today and half way round this happened to his back wheel
any idea what is wrong?
it was a new inner tube we had put in his bike after he got a puncture earlier in the ride.
then after about 12k that happened going on a bridle way. and had done a few downhill sections befor that and was fine.
mate recons it could be "cos continental tyres are so stiff, the beading had not bedded into the tyre properly"
any help would be great.

My guess would be that he didn't ensure that the bead was located properly in the rim before pumping the tyre up fully. If there's no sign of damage to the tyre or the rim, he should just chalk it up to experience and take a little more care next time. If it happens again, it could be indicative of some damage to the rim or tyre bead that you can't see, in which case maybe he could try replacing the tyre and having the rim checked over by a competent bike shop.0

It can't help that his bike's so out of focus. If you take it to your LBS, they'll refocus it for a small charge"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

When I was in the trade, wholesale, we had a shop bring a bike back cause the tyre was flat, after saying he should have replaced the tube and we would have do likewise, I thought sod this and pumped the tyre up with a Zefal doubleshot track pump and left the bike where the customer put it and went home leaving the manager and customer to it. 5 mins after I went the tyre went bang very loudly and buckled the (steel) rim. It caused a few missed heartbeats. :shock:I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
