I just bought a stylo chainset with external bottom bracket (bearings on the outside of the frame) and am having trouble fitting it too my bike. the bottom bracket fits the frame perfectly but the problem comes in when i try to fit the chainset. There is an axle on the drive side of the chainset which is supposed to pass through the bottom bracket so the non drive side crank can be attatched. The axle passes through the drive side of the bottom bracket but will not pass through the non drive side so i cannot fit the non drive side crank. can anyone please help me as it driving me mad. thankyou

Should just push through. The best advice I can give is unscrew the non-drive side cup and try to push it over the axle loose in your hands. If it won't go in that situation there is a fault with the cup. If it will, you just need to persevere with aligning the axle as you push it through.

  • I just tried your advice but it just wont pass through the cup. Should i try and file the cup down a little?

No. Take it back to the shop, there's a fault with that cup, and they should replace it.
