Trek 1.9 or LeMond Alpe D'Huez?

I'm just about to branch out into the world of road biking but I'm stuck on what bike to get...
I have test rode both bikes - Trek 1.9 and LeMond Alpe D'Huez and both were great but I really dont know which one I should purchase?
The LeMond does have a better frame (I think) - carbon upper and Aluminium lower and 105 groupset. While the Trek is aluminium frame but Ultegra groupset.
With frames is it a good idea to have them mixed material? Are there weaknesses?
I would be very grateful for peoples opinions
Many Thanks Bec

I bought the Trek 1.9 and love it, I haven't found anything wrong with it. It's very comfortable and I wouldn't change a thing. I love going uphill more than before.
I like the mixture of black and grey (they call it onxy), I like the understated graphics and I like the Ultegra gear.
If you want a bike with 105 there are loads of lovely examples such as the Cannondale CAAD9.
Remember you are unlikely to make a bad decision between the good bikes you've considered so choose the one your heart likes the most.
But don't forget to consider the Planet X - it's favoured on this forum, I hear it's made in Yorkshire out of carbon and love, and apparently love is quite light.
