Keeping a bike outside

Hey all new to these forums.
Unfortunately I have moved and need to keep my bike outside. Luckily this is my winter workhorse bike and not my race bike but I was wandering if anybody had any good tips? Would you suggest just clean and re oil/grease after each use and use a good bike cover or something completely different?

In cycling mags they do advertise in house bike racks -you do want to find your bike
there in the morning and not nicked especially if a good one

Thanks MacKay, I understand what your saying but A) luckily its a cheap old peugeot jobby so I dont think anybody would want it and my road bike lives in the house. I think my housemate would throw a fit if she found more bikes nocking about the place.
