Tektro Brakes

I currently have a 2006 Giant OCR2 with Tektro Brakes.
I am thinking of replacing the pads (which I think are pretty poor in all conditions). Can anyone tell me what type of pads I should be looking for.
I am a little bemused by everything on offer out there!
Thanks in advance.

Hi there no body else replied so ill have a go...
Usually most manufacturers, certainly one like Tekro would stick to shimano compatability. If they are dual pivot brake (assuming the OCR2 is a drop bar road bike and not some hybrid with V brakes) Here are a selection of brake blocks which should be ok:
Pretty Standard Shimano Pads (although not many people rate shimano pads too highly)

SwissStop which win a lot of the magazine tests but at a price:

And my favourite, and many forumers favourites KoolStop Salmons

Only thing with those kool stops is Wiggle are only selling the inserts...they need the metal shimano type holders (see the swisstop picture, to see what i mean) maybe your brakes already have them?0 -
I'm running deep drop Tektro (2006/7) calipers on my winter bike.
I'm using Swissstop GHP pads - superb - unbelievable improvement.
Still not as good as my "road" bike with 105 calipers and standard Shimano pads though! (I am led to believe this is down to the 105 caliper being much better).
CooperMichael has pretty much nailed everything I would have said (RE: Koolstops).
If my understanding is correct, the Campag. shoes have different sized bolts to Shimano - Anyhow, the Shimano Swissstop shoes and Swissstop GHP pads are superb and worth a try. They also pick up a lot less grit than the Tektro blocks... which did a superb job of scouring my Campag. rims!
I bought mine from Condor in central London, who keep them stocked / on the shelf.0 -
Thanks folks.
I'll have a look on wiggle at the options you have highlighted. Only problem is that I am in Jakarta, so will need to find someone local who sells them.
But, armed with this knowledge the search should be easier.
Thanks again.0 -
Hi, have a look at a seller on Ebay called "Highonbikes" i have bought several items from him and the service is excellent. I bought some Ultegra brake pads that just slide into the Tektro holders and are a big improvement on the original Tektro ones. Postage to you should not be a problem either. He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0

Condor should be able to mail out a set of Swissstops to you. The 'phone call may prove rather expensive!
This comes straight from the Swissstop website:
