The presta adaptor is normally a push fit onto the valve of the tube, and the treaded end pushes into the schrader(car type) connector on the end of thepump hose, then just move the lock leaver to lock the two together. the first couple of times it's a fairly tight fit. I found the presta adaptor would come of the valve sometimes, so bought a screw-on version from wiggle.
  • cheers woody got it to wok, but its not very secure!! might go down the screw on road myself.

  • The presta connector on the old Rennkompressor pump is one of the crappest pieces of design the world has ever seen, IMHO. It spoils what is otherwise an excellent pump. It'll work OK for a while, then the rubber washer strats to wear out, and the connector will blow off the valve as you pump. I used to go through about two washers a year, and getting replacement washers always used to be a problem, I don't know if it's any better now.

Personally, I'd swap the connector for something that works better, but that' only my opinion.

The Topeak track pump head can be purchased on it's own and retrofitted to most other track pumps - I find this very good and it never blows off:

  • I know some people don't get on with them, but I'd had years of reliable use from a Topeak Smarthead on a Rennkompressor.
