My last two sets of tyres have been Conti Gatorskins (23mm) which have been fine. However, I am going to try 25mm tyres for a bit more comfort and was going to go the Conti route again, but could I do better for under £20?

I ran GP4000 25c with reflective sidewalls last season - Very good tyre, though a little slippy in torrentially wet conditions. I rode them throughout the winter last season, without mishap or p*ncture - although I don't go fast. (Ensure you fit them with the correct rotation, since this has been suggested as a reason they may feel less sticky/stable).

Ribble have them at GBP20.00 at the moment.

Contis get some negative press from people who find them very slippy, and recommend Michelin Carbon Krylions instead.

Another alternative that Monty and the LBS recommended were the Vittoria Pave tyres, though both have pointed out these are not as puncture proof as the other options.
Besides, the Vittoria Paves are 24c, I think. (GBP 23 on Ribble).
