...to be fair, I would allow people like Stef Schumacher off...he was just celebrating his medal I think...like Ullrich drowning his sorrows in 01...in all seriosness, I would follow Soller around everywhere
Why Robbie and Cadel?0 -

Boonen looks like he has lost some power though, with only limited resources...is there higher opportunity tagets elsewhere?0 -
How about our friend Linus?
The media shares responsibility for the current tense situation in cycling, the 25 year-old continued. "There is a certain sensationalism (in the media). Everyone knows that when they call a certain person, they can come up with certain headlines. But there is much too little reported about the progress in the fight against doping, in which a lot more must happen and whose goal we have not yet reached. We have to deal differently with the past and the future."
Isn't it usually the dodgy people who blame the media and talk about progress?
I know he's most likely to test positive for pentapeptides or somethingFckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Why Klöden? Talk of guilty by association.
Theoretically the best system would be an equal one - with no prejudices. Realistically there just isn't sufficient coverage so concentrate on:
Valverde
Petacchi
Saunier Duval as a whole
Andy Schleck as he could keep up with DDL and Simoni in the Giro
Kim Kirchen (Iain will like that)
Cancellara because he beat Vino and Klödi in London by miles.
Or seriously perhaps the UCI should be analysing blood tests for young blood cells etc. then going after the 'anomolous' guys. And we don't know who they are, do we?

They do this already. THe "dodgy riders list" on their website gives you a clue who they might be.
They should suddenly outsource all testing. From sample gathering to testing etc. No one in the UCI should have a clue so the pay offs don't work. You'd get a few weeks worth of proper surprise testing that way.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Being very credulous Iain! The UCI would appear to now its arse from its elbow if you're right!!
Only kidding, I know there's the dodgy list, but we don't actually know how people ended up on there, whether it was performances, associations/relationships or anomolous results.
I really hope the UCI is doing as you say. But I'm not sure how well outsourcing would work - there's always going to be administrators to corrupt if that sort of thing is going on.

The fact that he rode on T-Mobile teams that are now being regarded as having been off their collective face during the Tour, or perhaps the fact that he placed very highly against a number of riders who consequently turned out to be doped. Both valid enough reasons to have him on The List'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -

But what about Quick.Step riders who were apparently having some Dutch crack rave with even more glow sticks?
...And I believe Robabank were seen leaving the area in the early hours. Although other reports placed them on a Coca farm in Mexico.
Face it, every rider at every team over the past ten years is guilty by association of some sort. So the targeting should be based on evidence like being mentioned by Puerto, a client of Ferrari et al or anomalous test results.

Nick Gates
Kloden
Mick Rogers
Hincapie
Although really there are way too many to mention and personally I think the anti-doping culture, policies and practises of the last 40 years have completely failed and whole thing needs a major overhaul. So I'm not sure out of testing is really a worthwhile exercise, but the above 4 are dodgy.0 -
Test me! I can't work out why I'm enjoying riding in and out of work in the dark and cold (especially today) so there must be something in my system! You hear that? He's up there... mewing in the nerve centre of his evil empire. A ground rent increase here, a tax dodge there? he sticks his leg in the air, laughs his cat laugh... and dives back down to grooming his balls!0

Lotto, in all their previous incarnations, have been successful in an era when doping is institutionalised, are run by ex-pros who almost certainly partook and their performances warrant further investigation.0 -
What, no-one's mentioned Menchov?
Trains in the Pyrenees with the chicken, wins a grand tour, how much more proof do you need?!0 -

How about Ricco
as well as the usual suspects
Valverde
Hincapie
Both Sclecks
Menchov
Evans
and everyone else in the peleton really when I think about it0 -
Seems anyone who is successful is suspect, which isn't entirely fair.
I'd target Keith Richards, just to see wtf he's really on.It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Hincapie???? What's the internet acronym I'm searching for? Oh yeah, PMSL. Stands out among all the other names as one who's had bugger all outstanding performances for a year or two. Do you want to find out what he's on, so you can take something else? Or is "He towed Lance up an Alpine climb once, about 3 years ago" the main criterion we should apply? Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent rider, and a great rouleur, but his performances would hardly set alarm bells ringing the way, say, Di Luca's have!Le Blaireau (1)0

It's not difficult,
Maybe I'm being stupid, but someone has asked a topical/satirical question, on an issue that people feel strongly about, and people have raised their suspicions. Or is there something I've missed?I was only joking when I said
by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed0 -
Satirical?
Don't think so.0 -
For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of threads like this, if only because it is being talked about more than the racing, but I think 'c*ntish' is over the top. I wanted to know the reason for the extreme reaction.I was only joking when I said

OK .I wasn't having a go at you personally.
I dislike threads like this too, but certain long standing members of this forum do seem to revel in this speculative bunkum.0
