Hi I have posted a few time in the last week or so, I am still reading and learning about bikes before I take the plunge and place an order.

I have been looking at the
Cube ltd race
Trek 6700
Scott scale 50 (with a fork upgrade)

I was just wondering for about £800 are there any hard tail bikes with a more aggressive XC style with longer travel forks? I found this bike http://www.discountbicycles.co.uk/biz/p ... xProd=4688 as an example of what I would like to find / and consider as an alternative to the Race bikes I have found so far. (this link is purely for showing the style of bike (I am not considering this Saracen)

Any ideas would be most welcome
Cheers guys

None of the bikes you list are really hardcore, more your average XC/trail bike. OnOne 456 is an option, as is the Saracen Zen.
  • If you look hard enough you will find an 07 crush in the magazines for £799, I think I also saw one at £899 when the list price is £999.

The Crush looks like a great rig, I am making a purchse when the 08 frames come out.

Worth noting, 07 frame is designed around 150mm forks, whereas 07 model is fitted with 140mm forks.

Avid 5's, Marz forks 150mm, Raceface crankset Awesome frame - all for £800!!

yeah at £800 thats a gr8 deal only they dont have my size I need a 21". Might try and see the 08 model and if necessary save another month. The more I look the more I seem to "need" to spend.
  • It is a good price.

I too need the 21" frame so I am waiting till they get them delivered from Taiwan. I've rung up today and asked, they've said its mid to late Jan, which could well mean early Feb!

You need to try and set a budget on whats really necessary. I've had a right dilemma but think I've finally settled on the Crush. I mean I could go for a Cove Stiffee, but will I ride any quicker, I don't think so? I don't think that £550 is worth it when I can get pay £380 for the Crush frame. Same goes for forks and brakes for me, why pay the extra for Pikes when Revelations are cheaper and still probably just as good? XT brakes will probably perform as good as Avid 5's etc........ I'm happy with the Crush, XT groupset from Merlin and some Revelations - Job done.
  • is it me or is everybody suddenly buying oranges...
probably realized they are great..
    oranges are the best

life is short, so live it all flatout!!
  • Well I've certainly jumped on the round spinning fruit!!

It makes sense when you think about the bikes on offer and the cost of them!

Plus they are built in Yorkshire* so they'll be rock hard.

    * The Yorkshire in Taiwan that is!!
