Gore Helium, or if you have few more bob to spend Assos Element Zero.pm0

I've been very impressed with the new Altura offering - dead comfortable, snug but with good ventilation. My only beef with it is I wish they did it in a colour other than black.0

pearl izumi zepher.
nice fit - totally windproof with a high neck but a mesh back to keep you cool. very well made and a great price.
the most versatile thing I own - great for early morning rides in summer or as an extra layer in winter and everywhere inbetween - a true 'year round' garment.0 -
I've got the Assos and an Etxeondo. The Etxeondo is a very slim fit, but has stretchy side panels, so it never feels restrictive. It's also made for slightly colder weather (heavier fabric) and the windstopper material has been excellent. The Assos is better suited to milder conditions. I prefer the Etxeondo0

How do these two compare where packed down? I am also in the market for a gilet and would like something that doesn't take up too much space in the jersey pocket.0 -
Second vote for the Pearl Izumi Zyphrr. Lightweight, windproof and has a good fabric on the inside of the high colour to keep you warm.0

The Assos will pack down smaller. I would put it in my jersey if I was unsure about the weather, and wanted a backup. I'd wear the Etxeondo 'out the door' when I know it's cold, and I'm not gonna be taking it off.0 -
10% off the Assos Element Zero at Ribble Cycles - one for the Christmas list I think.0

Love my Aldi black one. It was about a fiver. Windproof front and high collar. Reflective piping. Mesh back, fits in a pocket.0

The Exteondo one is nice looking - I've tried one a few times, but as I've got five other gilets, can't get round to justifying another! Surprisingly, not many people make one with a windstopper front and back, vented sides with decent pockets - one of my club gilets fits the bill perfectly in that respect. For racing, I use an Assos Climajet - packs away to nothing, close fitting and very good at keeping wind and rain off.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Pearl Izumi Zephyr. Got a great review in CW in a gillet group test. Got mine for about £30 and it's been great.0

I tend not to wear my Black Aldi one often but I wear an Aldi one which has a Hi Vis front more. I also like mt club gilet its a bit thinner/ lighter/ more breatheable, fits/compacts better and its good and bright too.
Edit: its a ReArtu Gilet and its a great fit for me0 -

Whats it like for bretheability?
It looks much like the Sportful hotpack one I have but I end up drenched when I ride with that.Mañana0 -
Oh and for visibility - JJB have fluo gilets for about a fiver. Bit thin, but you cant be too visible can you.0

I've been looking at the PI gillets at www.pearlizumi.com but i'm not sure. I did Marmotte on Saturday and saw some nice ones on sale at the stalls but didn't have th cash. I've now forgotten the names. :?
I was considering the PI Optic, Zephyr or the Gore gillets. No one here seems to have mentioned Gore. I liked the idea of a mesh back. the Zephyr has one but the Optic doesn't seem to but that's lighter. Does the Zephyr pack down well to stow away?
also, where could I find the road test from C+? pockets are essential.http://twitter.com/mgalex
