    Gavin,
IMO and experience yes to a Ti seatpost but maybe no to the Ti forks. Ti forks are super strong for touring etc. For the same money you can get some excellent carbon forks that will be great for road racing and probably lighter. I love the look and feel of a Ti seatpost in a Ti frame - very classy.

much better deal than Setavento who by all accounts are having problems with their frames, so steer clear of that name.
    For info
Setavento is now closed. After three years delivering all types of custom titanium bicycle frames we are no longer accepting orders for new frames. We would like to thank all of our customers for their support, and to congratulate Team Tor 2000 for all they achieved during 2006-2007.

so no longer an option anyway.

    Due to illness I believe.

I always love it how a company's reputation can be damaged by ill considered postings on internet forums.

Now just hold on! I resent that accusation big time. I posted what was in the public domain on Setevento's own web site! If it was so damaging then why did they post it?

There is nothing ill considered about my posting, and it is ludicrous to suggest that I am damaging their reputation!!!

I gather there has been illness, however nothing in their latest news item (in my post) states that as the reason, neither is there any suggestion AT ALL that this is a temporary state of affairs.

I am flabbergasted by your insinuation! What about responsible forum members' (i.e. ME) reputation being damaged by (your) ill considered postings???

It wasn't aimed at you, rather at Giant Man and his posting on the previous page.

My sincere apologies if you felt it was aimed at you. It wasn't.

Okay, calmer now - I presume the comment related to the "frame trouble" statement.

    Sorry I was enraged

It's okay - my comment could have made it clear that I was referring to the previous posting and not yours.

That's the trouble with the internet, we can take umbrage when no offence was meant because it's purely written communication.

yes, but also I was trigger happy
  • Of their "off the peg" frames which would be most suitable for a light weight 8 speed derailleur, flat bared, road bike.? What I"m trying to avoid is bars that are too low, I normally have my bars at seat level or just above. Problem is i don't know about frame geometry and therefore will be a little lost if I contact them. I have a Holdsworth, Roy Thame frame which is comfortable so i suppose that's the sort of geometry that i want. any thoughts ? Also got a Hewitt tourer which works well for me.

    Hi

Re the question of also getting Ti forks and seat post - I seem to remember on a previous thread that someone had bought the forks at the same time. However, he was not impressed as they were far too springy.

Can't comment on the seat post question, except to say that I have never heard of anyone using one!

    Hi

On the question of duty and VAT, suggest you contact me for details of my three XACD frames.

On the question of delivery time - all of mine were delivered within four weeks of the money reaching the factory (your bank mails dollars to them). This included the one that straddled the Chinese New Year and the factory was shut for a week!

I have a USE Ti seatpost, it was a big improvement over the aluminium one, comfort-wise. I guess individual designs will vary but I think you may be able to get carbon comfort without the potential fragility.

I have a Xi'an custom cross frame with a pair of their ti disc forks - not the stiffest forks in the world, but their resilience makes them ideal for offroad use. By all accounts their seatposts aren't the most secure, so probably going for a decent aftermarket model.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Last question, but would anyone who has ordered from them be prepared to post or pm me with the drawings they came back with? Reason being that this will be the first time I have done this and want to be sure I miss nothing and nothing is lost in translation!!!

I am thinking of some of the cosmetic opportunities I may miss when ordering!! Thanks again
