    Now were starting to get back to our neanderthal roots!
  • Camp fires are fine but they must be far away enough from the tent to avoid glowing embers from being blown onto the fly sheet. My son and and his mates have tents whose flysheets are perforated by embers when the wind got up.

    I wouldn't start a camp fire in most parts of OZ, the thought of a bush fire while I am riding for days through the forests is quite un-nerving.

    there are signs everywhere anout fire risks, but there are also huge burn out areas of the forests.
