My dad changed his tyres for slicks as the off road tyres he didn't like for on road too much drag, problem is he does go off road as well, nothing rough just flat dirt, gravel, etc. Only problem is now he thinking about changing the tyres again as he said the slicks off road didn't feel right, felt like they would punch if he bump over something so he was being cautious and riding slower.

I suggested semi slicks but i not sure, dont know if the slick part is a thinker material than normal slick, what do you guys reckon ?? semi slicks or maybe a off road cross country tyre that has low profile knobs on ??

Ether way can i get some recommendations on tyres, semi slicks and low profile off road tyres. 26" wheel, no bigger than 2.1.

Cheers

a few i can think of,

Maxxis Crossmark (using these at the moment)
Maxxis Ranchero (maybe faster on road than above)
Continental Town and Country (faster and heavier? than both above)

    Panaracer Mach SS

Great on road, will work in dry conditions off road, so long as it's nothing too hardcore!

I used then for the C2C in '05, including all the off road section, worked perfectly.

Like the look of those, i take it seen as they are designed for both on and off road they are thicker and have better punchure protection than a standard slick designed for on road.

I got only one puncture on the C2C, as did a rider with full knobby tyres, so I'd sat that they're about the same based on that small sample.

    From the Panaracer site...

Technology incuded in the Mach SS:

ASB: When you see the ASB logo, it means that the tire has a proprietary anti-rebound rubber strip that reduces the chance of pinch flats by an average of 40%!

BAX: BAX technology uses extremely narrow 0.14 diameter cord which is weaved at a super high density into the casing for lightness and flexibility. This increased density improves resistance to cuts and abrasions.

3D Knobs are designed to perform multi-directionally and are located on the tire sides. They are positioned in multiple directions to help maintaining traction and durability while riding on the side knobs.
