Stud Thread Pitch

Gotta a little problem and wonder if anyone here can help :?:
Currently rebuilding my bike and going back to V brakes..Steinbach ones.
The standard canti stud is the wrong profile for these so I am patiently waiting for some Steinbach ones to arrive.
My problem is that their thread pitch for M10 studs is metric coarse (1.50 I think) BUT I will be using Paces' V brake mounts on my RC31's and their thread pitch is metric fine.
Do you think I should simply ( :? ) re-tap the Pace items with a coarser erm...tap.
The brakes will be mounted behind the forks.
I'm a little reluctant to tap them myself in case I ruin them.
Whatcha think
Cheers, Carl

If I understand right, you're talking about rethreading the brake spigots NOT the frame, in which case you'd use a die rather than a tap.
Can't say rethreading a fine thread to a course one of the same size is good practice but your plan does have one thing going for it: It's better to try to bodge the small replaceable part (the spigot) rather than the expensive irreplaceable part (the frame)"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -

he is on about the pace clamp on adaptors.
i find it hard to belive that the brakes wont fit straight on. as the standard cantie/V brake standard has not changed since canties first sprouted on frames and forks.

could you please maybe provide a picture showing why they dont fit?
will have look about though."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Thanks for your replies.
Nick I shall try and take a picture later and post.
You can have a look at their V's at http://www.steinbach-bike.com/asp_servi ... ileTitel(1).jpg
Standards def. don't fit. Standard are longer and the initial larger part of the stud is deeper too. Been a bit of a pig this!

they must do a few different ones then as i dont think they would have been drilling and tapping these!
i would be asking lots of questions before doing anything.
You have spoken to poshbikes."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok..with the first picture you hopefully can see that the Pace studs are too long....by only a few mm granted.

In the 2nd picture you can see that by just maybe a mm the initial part of the stud is too long. I suppose I could cut the length and pack the difference...but that just wouldn't be right

Cheers again, Carl0 -
see the picture above you are missing a washer."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I have talked to Steinbach and Pace direct. Pace do metric fine....Steinbach do metric coarse.
The stud 'holes' on the frame will be OK, just the Pace V brake brackets are the pain.0 -
I have the washers Nick, but they don't cover the stud. Nor would they take up the mm diff at the end meaning the elastomer units will not 'bite' against the frame/or Pace adapters. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have the Steinbach studs and I will post more pictures to show the diff.

i am still finding it hard to beolive that they would make theme fit a different sized spigot. as i would not have thought they would make all the studs to fit all the forks.
i can thing of atleast 5 different studs used buy fork makers but the one thing that was common was the V/canti interface.
have fun."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
