Need a new front mech for my '04 stumpy. It's the Hard tail model.... alloy M4 frame (think the new crop of rockhoppers are the same frame now?). Not sure what diameter the frame size is?
seen this... www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=20695
Do I need option A or B?
# Option A = 34.9mm Clamp with Dual Pull and Conventional Swing
# Option B = 31.8/28.6mm Clamp with Dual Pull and Conventional Swing
Thanks in advance!

Cheers supersonic
Anyone confirm that before I stick that order in?0 -
If your seatpost is a 30.9, like many Speshes, then you'll def need a 34.9 clamp.0

what does it say in the collar of the old one?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

This is where having Vernier Calipers come in handy. I think everyone should own one.0

Would that do the job?
Actually, is that one on Merlin the same one as required for a 2007 Stumpy? (Which has a 30.9mm seat tube).0 -
Thanks all - 34.9 clamp it is.
Milese - spot on mate - that shop is on my way home... Good work fella!0 -
No sweat, so do you assume thats the same as on the FSR?
The standard one is described as:
FRONT DERAILLEUR Shimano M-580 LX, 34.9mm clamp, top swing, dual pull.
Merlin one:
Dual pull (top or bottom) XTR high clamp front mech 34.9mm.
Is 'high clamp' the same as 'top swing'?0
