Trek 6300 or Marin Palisades

Time has come to upgrade my 10 year old Trek 4500 and I've got my eye on the Trek and the Marin. Any suggestions on alternatives or which one to go for.
I'm leaning towards the Trek as my old bike has been faultless but after a test ride it didn't really excite me as much as I would have expected after a ten year gap, testing the Marin this week to see if it'll float my boat.

Test them by all means. Trek has the better spec, the fork on the marin is poor.0

I bought a Trek 6500 Disc last year and I love it. Doubt that really helps though does it?

Find the extra £100 if you can and get the 6500 Tora fork makes it worth it.
You will want to upgrade to this after a while with the 6300 (Dart fork) any way.
Failing that get the 6000 and keep the £100 for upgrades later (the fork maybe to Tora)Racing is life - everything else is just waiting0 -
Cheers for your info y'all. After having another good look around last night the Specialized Rockhopper seems like a good buy and very highly thought of and then I started looking at the Rockhopper Comp and the extra £150 looks well worth spending. Looks like this needs a test drive - any thoughts?0
