Blackburn and their lifetime warranty?

Back in the summer, I bought a Blackburn track pump from Ribble. Unfortunately, it now does not work (when I connect up the pump to a valve, the piston shoots up towards the sky and air rushes out of my tyres). I was a little surprsied, as it has had little use (once a week).

Like many Blackburn products, it has a "lifetime warranty." I am unclear at present as to whether I should be contacting Ribble for a "RMA" number before sending the pump back to them, or do I need to contact Blackburn directly?

Presumeably the postage costs will be re-embersed upon seeing the pump is faulty?

Blackburn are distributed by Madison - you could try and return it to them, but correctly you should go back via the shop you bought it. With a limited warranty, initial postage costs are your responsibility. BTW sounds as though the non-return valve at the bottom of the pump has gone - often water gathers in the bottom of the pump and leads to corrosion or even freezing - this is a problem with any pump when left outside in the cold.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I also had a problem with a Blac burn pump last year, bought from Ribble. As long as you have some kind of receipt then return it to Ribble.
I had a brand new track pump within 1 week. I only had to pay postage one way.
Based on this service, i would recommend Blackburn to anyone.

Hmm, I've had three blackburn products (track pump, rear light and rack) and they have all failed, the rack admitedly in a minor off which invalidated the warranty. The light I got refunded by wiggle. The pump works tthrough the shrader fitting but not the presta - I use an adaptor.

The long and short of it is I now feel that the blackburn warranty is a repsonse to their poor manufacturing quality rather than a mark of confidence in it. I avoid their stuff now.
