Im wanting to have a single cog on the front and am wondering if the Blackspire NSX c4 will fit ?? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=17296

Does anyone know which 1 i need to purchase ISCG or ISCG 05 (whats the difference?)

Im building up a new frame (m4 stumpjumper) and was going to use http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=7251 will these work with the Blackspire? obviously Ill have to take the inner and outer chain rings off ;)

  • If you get one you'll have to get the BB mounted on as i'm fairly sure the frame doesn't have iscg mounts (they are three threaded holes around the bb shell that you can screw chainguides into) but other than that it should be fine. If you are going to run a chainguide why not buy hones, they are a bit heavier but significantly stronger.

Reading the spec on the crc sight it states "Size(s): ISCG, ISCG'05, BB-Mount " so that will be alright??

You need the top, non-ISCG, one for that bike. Product code 54057.

ISCG, the International Standard Chain Guide [mount] is an attempt at standardising the way chainguides fit onto frames and to cvome up with something more reliable than the then-standard BB-mounted ones. ISCG 05 was designed to make ISCG fit BMX BBs and work happily with external bottom brackets.

Being practically the same crank, both the LXs and the Hones will work with that frame.

If you're just riding XC, as the frame is intended for, you shouldn't need any more than the DMR cage. Full-on chain devices only really become neccesary if you're doing lots of backwards-pedalling or you're on a longer travel full sus bike.

Thanx Big Red S :) Will there be any advantage using the NSX over the cage?? the price seems good on the Blackspire as you get a bash guard :)

It will be more secure - over bumpy ground your chain will be far, far less likely to derail.
