I want a full suss frame and dont have much money. If i wacked on all my good parts and got a new rear shock could it be any good? I don't care about weight but do you think it could be strong? Cheers.

  • Bit of downhill, jumping and commuting. But £30 for a full suss frame, do reckon it could possibly be alright?
  • It reminds me of an orange patriot frame. how much worse could it be?

a lot this chould be a clue
    1200LB/IN
look at the spring rate for a Patriot

and you would do better with a hardcore hard tail frame.

Its awful. Very heavy, undamped shock, pivot position too high - avoid.
  • cheers. By the way there's alot of pisstakers here. Sorry for not knowing alot about bikes but no need with the smart comments.

I agree with the hardtail comment though - some good light and strong frames for peanuts that would perform much better,

No they are not piss taking, they are getting fed up repeating themselves & not having their advice listened to.

Everyone who has answered has been polite & offered their years of knowledge & advice, if you don't want to take it & waste you money on something (wheel, or frame) that is not even fit chuck in the bin then on your own head be it.

You do know I make it all up don't you? ;-)
  • most people are great, supersonics helped loads the last couple of days! But then you get some smartasre to take the piss of the person who's only been seriously riding a couple of months.
  • I think it's because (as I found out) when you first start out you wonder if there realy is that much differance between cheaper/pricey bits and pieces. I've learnt - you get what you pay for. Simple but tough rule :(
  • i agree, i started riding bout 3/4 years ago, wen i started my job as a bike mechanic, and ive found that more expensive parts tend to work better, since i have started riding have tryd a bit of everything, long distance, free ride, downhill and cross country, and each offers benifits, but as with everything in life, u get wat u pay for, i hate it wen people come in 2 my work and ask "im looking for a cheap bike for getting 2 work, ive got about 100 pounds, its about a 5 mile distance" i say if u buy a chep bike, ull be spending as much money repairing it as it would b 2 buy a decent bike.
