which I have just bought does not appear to be able to fit to a Cayo Expert 2006, because the chain stays are profiled in toweards the wheel, thus there isnt sufficient clearance between the sensor and the spokes... any suggestions - other than send it back - in which case anyone else encountered a similar problem, and which model will fit? It needs to have a speed sensor that has a thickness of less than 10mm to fit.

I had the same problem. The sensor sits on a rubber pad which can be removed (using a thin screwdriver blade). There's also a thinner pad in case removal leaves the sensor too far away.

    Hope this works for you.

I recently had this problem on my Giant OCR which has chainstays that bend inwards along their profile. You can get the normal computer functions working properly by mounting the sensor rotated somewhat, so that it is at more of a 45 degree angle such that the spokes no longer hit it. All that really matters is the magnet passes within about 1mm of the sensor. A bit of trial and error will be needed.

I've found it a lot harder to get the cadence bit working because the magnet on the crank is miles away from the sensor on the chainstay. It kind of works at the moment, at high cadences, but anything under about 55 it stops working.
  • I wondered abvout the crank sensor position also. The rubber mount is almost fitted the wrong way round for this type of chainstay, so am going to see if I can swap the rubber mount over from the speed sensor to the cadence sensor.
