eye2eye vs Shock Stroke...

Just a quick one.

I need to replace my rear shock.

It's current I2I length is 200mm - the stroke is 65mm (2.5")

What difference would it make to the travel of the bike is I got a new shock with an I2I of 200mm and stroke of 55mm.

I'm right in thinking it'll jsut reduce the overall travel, but other than that no other detrimental effect to the bike? (05 Patriot 6.6)

Yes, the suspension will not compress as far, reducing full travel. Try and stick with what it was designed for.
  • The thing is... (I lied) it's not 200mm I2I it's 215mm - and I can't for the life of me find anything that matches that...

    215mm x 65mm stroke length...?

all I seem to see are 190s and 220's...?

(I'll probably just send it of TFT and get it refurbed... easier I reckon)

you must get the same i2i or you will change the handling in a way you will not like.

  • yep... cheers nick I realise that - that's not by query... it's the stroke length I was wondering about... doesn't matter now anyway as I'm gonna send it off to TFT... balls to it.

as long as the i2i is the same then there is no real issues (longer stroke could cause contact issues) except that the spring rate might need a change.
