I just got my rockhopper and what a difference it makes compared to my piece of junk saracen mantra. hills i thought were impossible are now easy . . The lbs even chucked in a helmet , gloves , lock, and cheap light ..90 quids worth of stuff .
the only problem is the unresponsive brakes i have to fully pull the leaver for it to stop. why?? does it need bleeding.

disc brakes require a bedding in period, they will get better in a short time0
