Headlight to supplement bar light
I need a headlight to supplement a Dinnotte 200L on the bars. I've considered the Joystick maxx but cost rules it out. I'm now considering the Fenix L2D torch and the Silva L1 headlamp. Neither are cycle specific and have no way of fixing to the helmet, or any that I can see. I just wondered what other people have done. I could zip tie the Fenix torch to the helmet but it would have no beam angle adjustability. The Silva has got beam angle adjustment but looks awkward, if not impossible, to mount on a bike helmet.
Another option would be to mount the Dinotte on the helmet and the Fenix on the bars with a Twofish Lockblock. This is the last option though as I'd rather have my most expensive light where it's better protected i.e. on the bars.

I recently brought a Fenix L1D to use as a helmet light. I brought a USE helmet mount from CRC and it works after a bit of tinkering to the torch. I rolled two layers of old inner tube around the body of the L1D to increase its diameter and then mounted it into the holder. I then used a piece of black insulation tape to secure the torch. Works really well and not had any probelms with it coming off.0

For road riding? Why on earth do you need a helmet mounted light for road riding?0

Er, as I said, I need a bit of extra light (no more room on the bars). Also, 1) as a back up light should the main light fail and 2) a helmet light is really useful for sorting out mechanicals in the pitch black whether road or off road.
With hindsight maybe I should have posted this question in the MTB section. I mix road and off road riding, it's all cycling to me. Thanks for your input speedstersimon, much appreciated.0 -
The thing is I'd suggest a really bright helmet mounted light is actually a bad idea for road riding, as you'll end up unintentionally shining it in other people's eyes and blinding them. For roadside maintenance, all you need is an e+lite For a back-up light, surely a Fenix and a 2fish block in your back pocket.
Fair enough for MTB - in which case http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/s ... &fldbody=10
