Chainring wear

Hi,

Just had a replacement frame under warranty. Have put on new middle ring, chain, jockeys and cassette at the same time given the wear. The big ring seems really stiff to turn now all the kit is on. Is this just wear and tear and needs replacement or me struggling to re-fit the front mech (which I think I've done ok!).

Hit me! What do you reckon?

Malcolm

Have a look on Sheldons site for an article on wear (and using new chains with worn stuff). Is the chain the right length?

Yeah when you replace any worn part of the transmission be it one sprocket of the cassette, a front chain ring or the chain itself you ideally need to replace the entire transmission for new as a few worn sprockets/chainrings will wear out a new chain in no time - the same with an old chain wearing out new chainrings. :)

Sorry you are not maling sence. please explaine how it is stiffer in one ring than an other, they are all attached to the same things so should be the same.

    Or......

more info needed and a full rundown of all the parts and what is new/old. EG if the outer ring was 7 speed and the chain is now 9spd yes it could be a bit stiff trying to force a thinner chain onto a wider cog.
