Ah, would be the carbon frame, Reba WC forks, XTR hubs laced to Stans rims, XTR groupo, Tune seatpost, stem and bars, Formula brakes with carbon levers. Should be about 19lbs
  • Ummm some lush custom hardtail DJer, maybe Fox forks, white finishing kit, custom paint job 8)

    Scott Scale 10
    Focus Izalco Team
  • Yeah the Scott is a pretty bike for sure. There was a 2007 Scale 10 going for £1999 new in the back of one of the mags MBUK I think last month. Now that has to be bargain of the decade!

  • Ok. My letter to Lapland would include:

    Merlin XLM Titanium Frame
Thomson Masterpiece Post and Elite Stem
Easton EC90 Flat Bar with Cannondale Grind grips
    Chris King Ti Headset
    Fizik Gobi Saddle
    Middleburn R8 Crankset
Titanium XTR Cassette with XTR Mechs and shifters
REBA world cup Forks or some new waffer light offering from DT Swiss
    Magura Marta Stoppers

Not sure on the wheels though, any ideas?

    Mine's pretty 'normal':
953 frame the same shape as my Cinder Cone, in a raw finish.
Top end RS Reba without any carbon.
Hope Bulb hubs on XC717 disc rims
XTR drivetrain with all-metal chainrings and proper shifters
New XTR brake calipers with XT levers (presuming they're compatible).
Thompson stem, EA70 bar, titanium USE seatpin.

Titanium USE seatpin: getting one for the Zaskar very soon.

It would be my susser except I would have gotten round to cutting down the steerer, changing the rear tyre and polishing that old seat-pin so it matched my brakes.

    Mavic deemaxes
    Saint brakes
Would equal one nice race bike

or a transition bottle rocket with 66's and the like!!

cotic soul frame, but if someone could paint it up for me to look like a bfe i'd be laughin',
them white dt swiss wheels off of crc,
on one mary bars, deus stem and post; brooks leather pro seat,
    sram xo groupset,
magura marta brakes, them red ones,
    maxxis larsen lust tyres.
Its either that or paying the mortgage.

    Got to get out more...
making it all up as i go along

Had a play on my mates shiney new Nomad this weekend.
Bomber 66 up front and a DHX 5 air rear shock with far too many bits to adjust.

Needed to shed a few pounds to be called 'all mountain' but loads of fun.
    A really sweet bike.

Saw a review of the Intense Socom in a MTB mag I bought on my hols earlier in the year in Canada and I'd agree with Sir HC and pick that one although I'd attempt to ride it uphill too.

Probably Fox 36s on it, Mavic/Hope Pro II wheels, Avid Juicy 7's or new Hope brakes possibly Shimano XTR and light yet strong components like Thomson. And although it's a travesty in some people's opinion, I'd fit a triple chainset because i don't think I'd be able to stop riding the bike and can't be running out of gears on tarmac too.

Would probably cost around £4k to build one though so it's out of the question unless I sell a kidney or something.

    :lol::lol::lol:
  • I don't know really.
Wouldn't mind some new brakes for my current on-one inbred 456, maybe truer wheels, but i'm happy with that bike. I wouldn't mind the Marin Quake 7.1 / 7.3? that comes with the totems up front, fox dhx air, hope V2 moto brakes. . maybe a sunday new wave frame for my bmx and to get my axle back for the rear wheel (g-sport homer on odyssey hazard lite its bomproof).
so yeah to be honest I could afford to get all my dream parts at the moment... just don't really need them. I wouldn't really use the quake enough to justify it right now no matter how amazing i'd find it. a sweet jump bike like a built up charge iron or something would be nice but i'm just selling a rhythm because i never use it...

isn't that boring i used to spend hours looking through ads in mbuk writing up list after list of dream bikes and now i'm happy with what i've got.
  • Ok...
    1. S-works Stumpy
    2. The commencal Titanium Frame with XTR/Chris King/Thompson/Avid/Hope kit set-up Single Speed
    3. S-works Specialized Langster (appently available in USA, and just to go with my current Langster)
    4. S-works Roubaix
    5. S-works Tarmac
    6. My current Stumpy....but with new XTR cranks I'm waiting for  (Its already got XTR gearing, hope brakes, Chris King, etc. :D )

I really like the look of the giant XTC composites.

    Unfortunately I'm

    1. too much of a newbie for it.
    2. haven't got the cash for one
    3. have a fear of carbon breaking on me (related to point 1 [don't fancy binning it if i crash] and a few carbon horror stories)
    Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
    Merlin single malt fixie (Commuter/winter/training)
    Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)
Giant Yukon singlespeed conversion (winter MTB/Ice/snow)
