good xc riding spot in the lakes

hello could any 1 reconment some good places for xc riding the the lakes
pref some were needing good skill and fitness levels for xc/am
have been to grizdale but alot was fire road but was still very good
chears any help welcome

claiffe heights around windermere is brilliant. about 3 hours or so, less if you;'re fitter than me, and involves a lot of climbing, good views, and some brillaint decents. well, i thought they were anyway!

Walna Scar road up frpm Coniston is good. There is a big circuit that goes rounf Lake Coniston (and up towards Grizedale) that takes in this road. It's certainly a lot more exciting than most of Grizedale.

ive only ever doen one ride in the lakes, above, but am going back next year doing the lakeland epic with cycleactive for a week. will let you know more then!
