105 chainring.....

After having a collision with a car just over two weeks ago I need a replacement 50T ring. I've got a 2200 groupset on the bike, but the only chainring the LBS could acquire was a 105.
Now after doing just 20miles on the bike, some of the teeth have already been slightly snapped off/flattened. Is this because I've been using a 8 speed chain on the "10 speed" chainring. Anything else it could be>?

old chains on new rings can increase wear but not after 20 miles!
8spd chain on 9/10spd rings will be fine. Rings often have some teeth that are shorter/different profile to aid shifting - you sure it's just not this?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -

Are you sure it is not how it was designed? Some chainrings have some flatter teeth to aid shifting, like this one:
It is unlikely that you ould chip off some of the tops of the teeth without some major noises! A worn chain is likely to wear the ring by making more scooped out wells between teeth rather than affecting the tips of the teeth.0 -

Yeh, I keep breaking stuff, hopefully this time though it's meant to be like this and not damage to the ring.
I never looked at the ring before I went out on the bike, so I've got nothing to compare it with. But after looking at that picture I think you are all right.0
