bike maintenance courses at edinburgh bike coop

im still on a waiting list to go on this.very keen to have a crack at diy.anybody been to one of these?i know there are others such as the park ones but they said they was folding because not enough punters going(aylesbury i think?)

  • I did one of the park maintenance courses recently with donwland cycles in canterbury kent it was great and i havent looked back i am now fixing friends and family bikes and have more than covered the cost of the course with their donations. Downalands can arrange accomodation for you.

The instruction on the courses is undertaken by Bryan Jackson, who is a qualified bicycle mechanic with 10 years experience. Bryan was the mechanic for the Navigators Insurance professional cycling team on the Tour of Britain 2007.

    I went to one of the Edinburgh one day courses in the summer, and would recommend it. They cover some of the basics very well, and it gave me confidence to try a bit more tinkering myself. It doesn't make me a bike mechanic though!

    i've done the dinbrough bike 1 dayer and it was useful but very basic

  • i booked three hours with E B C and asked them to show me only what i did'nt know that way i found it to be very time efficiant, slightly on the expensve side doing it that way but since it was one on one i soaked all the info up. i did my training with the guys in leeds.
