Flat soled road shoes with SPD cleats

Looking at getting some new road shoes (Specialised Sport Road) to ride on my commuter/sunday club ride bike that I have standard SPD double sided pedals on
Don't want the hassle of changing over pedals every week. Normal shoes for the week are touring recessed SPD's
Does anyone else ride with road shoes and SPD's, concerned about how much the cleat will stick out and making a (even bigger) idiot of myself off the bike!

why don't you just get comp mtb shoes like this:

Obv not saying those exact ones. They look fairly roady, they have the stiff sole (you can get carbon soled mtb shoes if you want really stiff soles) and no probs with the cleat sticking out. Only real diff is they're intended to take the spd cleat
Personally can't see why, if you're sticking with the spd's, you'd want to go for a road shoe0
