Hi,

I need to replace a pitted unbranded 1" threaded headset.

Anyone got any recommendations of what to get?

I was thinking along the lines of a 105 or something similar.

Cheers, idk.

  • Nothing wrong with 105 - 19.99 from Wiggle.

    Stronglight are good as well.
  • Stronglight A9. Has removable races so if (when) thy wear out you don't have to press out/in/on new races. Only watch out is the stack height is a bit high.
I bought one recently from ribble for £12.99

Newbie here - are we talking old fashioned headsets here or the new "where is it?" jobs like on my Sirrus?!?!?! :? :?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Threaded headsets are the old style - forks have a threaded portion at the top, which the headset screws down on to get the correct tension across the bearings - could be a bit fiddly to adjust, but more adaptable if you wanted to lift your bars higher than it is with the threadless (Aheadset) type that is fitted on most bikes made in the last 10 years or so.
